As you may remember, a few weeks ago I made this post about my wish to quit soda. Basically, do to its price, high caloric value, amount of sugar, caffeine and just general health sabotaging effects, it’s something I’ve been trying to kick from my diet.

How’s it going? Well, sort of good, and sort of not good. I tried to quit cold turkey, and only made it four days. In the afternoon of day four I cracked and my boyfriend gave me “permission” to have a soda. Well, that started me on somewhat of a downward spiral, and for the subsequent few days I fell back into my old habits. After going back and forth a few times, I decided to try a new approach - allowing myself half a can of soda daily, until I feel ready to ween myself down to nothing.

Hopefully, I’ll be soda-free by the end of October.

I am in the same position. I am addicted to diet soda (I love the Pepsi Wild Cherry kind). I have tried at least 5 times to quit since this summer. I have reduced what I drink, but I want to get rid of it all together.

I tried going cold turkey too and that was definitely not cool. I had the worst headache ever that just wouldn’t go away and I was a big pain to be around. I have started occasionally drinking small amounts of coffee (lol with a lot of flavored creamer). Since I don’t like it, I will drink less hopefully to the point where I won’t need the caffeine anymore, but I always find myself breaking down and buying soda and the cycle begins again.

@Shiela - I’m not sure I know how either, but I’m trying, and will update with any successes.

@Jennifer - It’s super hard. If you find something that works, let me know!

    Good Luck.
I’ve tried to quit drinking soda several times but have been unsuccessful. I just like drinking it too much and haven’t found an acceptable substitute.

@TightFistedMiser - Thanks. It’s hard to do, but I believe the benefits are worth it.
