Heading off on a Frugal Weekend Trip
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

The weather here seems to be behaving itself, so I thought we’d better enjoy the last few sunny and warm weekends we’ll be getting around here for awhile. The boyfriend and I are are going to spend a couple of nights relaxing in my family’s cabin, swimming and maybe even doing some fishing (really hoping I don’t have to clean any trout this time). Oh, and a few good nature walks - I enjoy them immensely, even if they’re a reminder of how much work I have to do in the gym.
There’s no better way to relax and not think about the stresses of finances than getting out into mother nature - breathing her fresh air, and enjoying her sites.
While away, I’ll be missing a couple of paid jobs, but that’s okay. Frugality gives me the power to save in some areas in order to be able to do the things that really matter. I hope you can all take some time out to do whatever it is that brings you real joy and happiness.

Ohhh…your getaway sounds divine! I have not had one chance this summer to swim and I am missing it! Enjoy and have a fabulous time!
That is an absolutely beautiful picture! And the idea of a getaway is fantastic. I just wish we could do that. Of course, where we live is where everyone at least locally would go for that. We live in the Ozarks of Arkansas in the US. It is pretty here too. But those mountains are awesome.
Thanks for giving us a chance to enjoy the picture with you.
@Ash - Thanks. It was short, but fun!
@Jaz - I’ve never been to Arkansas, but have loved the places I have visited in South USA. The people down your way are just so friendly, I can’t wait to go again.
Well, most are friendly.
Arkansas is a great place to visit. Very pretty in the spring. Beautiful in the fall with the colors. We have lakes with lots of fish. There’s hunting for those who like that. But the scenery is just awesome.
Having traveled throughout the US and a couple of trips to Canada and Mexico, I have found that all those places are beautiful in one way or another. And to answer your question…Windsor, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec. I loved it. I was traveling for work and it was fantastic. Well, until I couldn’t read a French sign and ended up with a huge vehicle on a tiny road that I should not have been on. LOL! But I survived and without a ticket for it too. It was fun.
@Jaz - LOL @ the french sign! Next time you come to Canada, you should hit the west coast (Vancouver), there’s lots of beautiful nature here, and we only put french on our packaging, not our signs!
Yep, I was driving a truck at the time and that big rig did not fit onto that tiny little road very well. I was sure I would get a ticket being there but I found my way back to the highway. Whew. As you might guess, I was on my way into Montreal at that time.
I will have to remember that for next time. When I show up again, it will be for a vacation, not work. That makes it a whole lot nicer.
