My Energy Goal

This summer my energy costs skyrocketed as the air-conditioning was on quite a bit which ran up the bill a considerable amount. I intend to make up for it this winter, as I am someone who deals with the cold much better than the warm.

My situation: I live in a small high-rise apartment with south-facing windows which let in a lot of sun, and subsequently provide a lot of natural heating when the sun is shining. Also, I have neighbors both above and below my suite, and the building’s common areas (hallways, ect) are heated. These factors seem to protect my small unit from getting too cool, so I have a bit of an advantage in the heating department there.

My goal is to keep the heat off for as long as possible. How long will that be? I can almost surely make it to November 1st, but Decemeber1st would be a strong goal, which is if achieved would put a big dent in my electric bills.

The tools? Warm sweaters, wool socks, blankets, hot tea and a positive attitude. Wish me luck!
