It’s Baking Day!

chocolate chip cookies

Oh, how I love a day of baking. It reminds me of when I was a child and would spend the day with my grandmother making an assortment of home baked goodies. Cookies, brownies, pies, sweet breads, you name it and we would bake it. The woman was somewhat of a culinary genius in my eyes (still is), and one day I hope I’ll be able to provide the same kind of childhood experiences and memories to grandchildren (well, first children) of my own.

However, while I’m not yet a Mother or Grandmother, I do have a lovely little niece that loves to help out with the baking. Today she came over and we whipped up some of her favorite cookies (chocolate chip) as well as a some home made bread to go with dinner. Baking at home is so much cheaper than heading off to a bakery or grocery store, and the memories created when baking with family are truly priceless!
